YG Entertainment finally announced the status of BLACKPINK members’ individual contracts with their agency. After a long period of speculation, it was revealed that Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose did not renew their solo contracts with YG Entertainment.

On December 29, 2023, YG Entertainment finally announced the individual contract status for the solo activities of each BLACKPINK member. It was revealed that Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose are not continuing their exclusive contracts with the agency.
“Hello, we are YG Entertainmet. BLACKPINK recently extended the contract with YG for their group activities and we have agreed not to continue the added contract for individual activities (each member).
We will do our best to support BLACKPINK’s activities, and we will warmly encourage the members’ individual activities. Thank you,” the statement read.

Fans don’t need to worry because this does not mean BLACKPINK is disbanded. Because, on December 6, 2023, the four members have agreed to continue their contract as a group with YG Entertainment.
This means that Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose will still perform together as a team even though their respective personal agencies are different. Even on December 23, Jennie BLACKPINK’s new agency began to go viral on social media. The rapper reportedly founded Odd Atelier which will facilitate her solo activities.
3. Not the first time this has happened in the KPop industry

This practice is not the first time this has happened in the KPop industry. Look at SNSD, EXO, and most recently Super Junior. Although their members left the agency as individual artists, their group activities still continue.
