Previously, the KPop industry was familiar with the “7-year curse” rumor. Every KPop group that has reached 7 years of career since its debut, is likely to disband or not renew the contract with the agency. This is a nightmare that KPop fans have always feared.

The 7-year curse was successfully refuted by the happy news of a row of KPop groups who decided to stay with the agency that made their name. This year, 2023, is even a happy year because various popular groups continue to extend their contracts. Who are they? Let’s check together!

1. BTS

The news of BTS extending their contract with HYBE was a hot topic on various social media. Officially on September 20, HYBE Labels announced that the seven-member group consisting of RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook renewed their contract with the agency recognized as number 1 in South Korea. 
BTS will certainly be active as a group again after all members join the military service they participated in this year. It is estimated that in 2025 they will be ready to greet ARMY who have been faithfully waiting for them. Who can’t wait for BTS’ comeback in 2025?

2. BLACKPINK

One more group that has shocked the public the most with news of their contract renewal with the agency is BLACKPINK. After previously worrying about the news of not renewing the contract with YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK proved their loyalty on December 6, 2023.
The group consisting of Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rose is ready to step back with YG Entertainment as a global group that dominates the music industry. Of course, this news was welcomed enthusiastically by their loyal fans, BLINK. Ready to witness their masterpiece again?

3. SF9

 On September 18, 2023, FNC entertainment announced that all SF9 members extended their contracts with the agency. But a little different, because one member, Rowoon, will stop participating in group activities.
Despite remaining with the agency, Rowoon decided to leave SF9 because he wanted to focus on his career as an actor. It is known, Rowoon has successfully starred in a series of popular dramas such as Destined With You, The Matchmaker, to She Would Never Know. Meanwhile, SF9 themselves will make their comeback in January 2024.

4. WJSN

WJSN is also a Kpop group whose contract expires in 2023. However, WJSN will still greet fans with Starship Entertainment despite the reduction of members. On March 3, 2023, five members of WJSN decided not to renew the contract.
WJSN, which debuted with 12 members, then added Yeonjung in 2016, successfully became a popular KPop group loved by fans. But now the group of “Dreams Come True” singers will continue group activities with eight members. Consisting of Exy, Seola, Bona, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeonjung.

5. Super Junior

SM Entertainment’s veteran group Super Junior has once again extended their contract with the agency. But out of the eight members, three of them decided to switch agencies for their solo careers. The members are Donghae, Eunhyuk, and Kyuhyun.
So they will still be active as a Super Junior group with SM Entertainment. The group has successfully maintained its existence for 18 years after debuting in 2005. Their decision to extend this contract successfully made ELF touched and proud.

6. Red Velvet

Finally there is Red Velvet, whose contract with SM Entertainment expires in 2023. Many rumors circulated that the group popular with the song “Psycho” would not renew the contract. But the rumors were debunked with Red Velvet’s latest comeback Chill Kill on November 13. Even so, there has been no official confirmation regarding their contract from SM Entertainment.
