Rolling Stone and The New York Times announced the ‘Best Albums of 2023’ on the 1st (Korea time). New Jeans made the ‘Best Albums of the Year’ list with their 2nd mini album ‘Get Up’.

First, it was ranked 33rd in Rolling Stone’s ‘100 Best Albums’. This is evident in its presence in a list that includes the works of global pop stars such as Caesar, Olivia Rodrigo, and Miley Cyrus.

Rolling Stone said, “The five-member group that took K-pop by storm with their debut has returned with a more sophisticated style. Get Up evokes the nostalgia of the Y2K era. Compared to other songs, New Jeans has a strong pop presence.”

This is the highest ranking among K-pop albums. Suga’s ‘D-Day’ ranked 69th. New Jeans was chosen for the second year in a row. Last year, their debut album ‘New Genes’ was voted the best album.

The New York Times also gave a positive review to ‘Get Up’. Critic John Caramonica said, “Get Up is the most modern and progressive pop song released this year. It features sensual R&B and jungle pop.”

The UK version of GQ also selected ‘Get Up’ as the only K-pop album in the ‘Best Albums of 2023’ on the 28th of last month. The media reported, “This is the album that established New Genes as the next generation.”

Meanwhile, New Jeans released their 2nd EP album ‘Get Up’ on July 22. The album reached the domestic and international charts after its release. All the songs on the album received a lot of love.

It even managed to captivate Billboard’s main album chart. Following the No. 1 on the ‘Billboard 200’, New Jeans entered all three song titles (‘Super Shy’, ‘ETA’, and ‘Cool With You’) into the ‘Hot 100’ main song chart.
