6 KPop Idol Groups That Disband in the First Half of 2023

The competition in the K-Pop industry is now getting tougher. Each group must work hard to maintain their existence. In early 2023, news of idol groups disbanding was heard several times. They had to disband for a number of reasons.

Although it was a pity, the disbandment of this group was unavoidable. So, which groups will disband during the first half of 2023? Come on, see the list below!

1. LOONA’s sub-unit, Odd Eye Circle

The LOONA group is known to be in conflict with their own agency, Blockberry Creative. The four LOONA members, namely Heejin, Jinsoul, Choerry, and Kim Lip, were decided to leave the group that had raised their names.

This resulted in the disbandment of LOONA’s sub-unit, Odd Eye Circle, which consisted of Jinsoul, Choerry, and Kim Lip. The disbandment occurred on January 13, 2023, right when the Seoul North District Court ruled that the members of the sub-unit Odd Eye Circle successfully terminated the contract.

2. DICE

The boy group D1CE was forced to disband after working for 3 years and 5 months. Debuting in 2019, D1CE disbanded because their exclusive contract period with D1CE Entertainment ended on January 20, 2023.

In addition, the disbandment of the group also occurred because several members left for military service. The boy group which consists of Yonggeun, Hyunsoo, Yoojun, Woodam, and Jinyoung has released 2 EPs and 4 singles.

3. ASTRO’s sub-unit Jinjin and Rocky

ASTRO’s sub-unit, namely Jinjin and Rocky, debuted on January 17, 2022. However, Rocky suddenly left their agency, Fantagio Entertainment, on February 28, 2023. Many suspected that this would also be a sign that the sub-unit Jinjin and Rocky were declared automatic. disperse.

4. BRAVE GIRLS

The girl group BRAVE GIRLS which debuted in 2011 has also disbanded. They had a chance to make a miracle by rising the single “Rollin Rollin” on the Korean music chart even though it had been released a long time ago.

 However, this luck did not last long. On February 16, 2023, BRAVE GIRLS disbanded, as the members decided not to renew their contracts with Brave Entertainment’s agency. They also decided to stay active with a new name, BB Girls.

5. SNUPER

Another old group that was finally disbanded is SNUPER. This boy group under the auspices of Widmay Entertainment has debuted since 2015. However, they finally decided to disband on May 3, 2023.

SNUPER’s disbandment was because their contract with the agency had ended. This marked the end of their journey as a group. Now, the members stated that they would focus on their respective solo careers. 

6. Momoland

Momoland is a group formed from the survival event, Finding Momoland. Debuting since 2016, MOMOLAND is known for its success with the hit song “BBoom BBoom” in 2019.

However, on February 14, 2023, Momoland was declared disbanded. Even though there had been a member change, the group continued to release music until they decided not to renew their contract with MLD Entertainment.
